Childcare from birth to 5 years

Monday – Friday: 7.30am - 6pm (50 weeks a year)

Full day childcare and sessional childcare.

Based in the centre of Cannock, we are ideally situated to provide full day care for your children from birth to 5 years with easy drop-off and collection.

We have three bespoke resourced play spaces to support your child at each individual stage of their development. Every area of the nursery has a beautiful outdoor space to allow for outdoor learning all year round.

We are inspired by Regio Emilia and take aspects of Forest School, loose parts play and encourage children to become curious, excited learners.

The discovery room

Our discovery room offers six of our very youngest children a beautiful and calm environment that is well-resourced to support the developmental needs of your baby at this early stage of life. We recognise that you as a parent are of paramount importance in your baby’s life and we will work closely with you to ensure we give your child the type of routine and care you offer at home.

We will very much focus on creating and developing appropriate play opportunities for your baby because play nurtures development and fulfils a baby’s inborn need to learn. Play takes many forms, from shaking a rattle to peek-a-boo to hide-and-seek. Our experienced practitioners will support your baby to become confident and happy in themselves in play and cement vital connections in the brain development at this crucial stage of life.

Play encourages adults to communicate with the children in their lives. Adults support play by giving children opportunities to play, and by knowing when to intervene, and when not to intervene. It is a crucial part of your child’s development.

Settling in your child is essential and we recognise that the first few days and weeks can be an emotional time. We offer flexible settling in sessions to enable both you and your child to feel comfortable.

The explorers

Toddlers are at such an exciting stage in life and they have so much energy and a thirst to learn new skills. This energy is supported by dynamic play opportunities and open-ended resources allow children to lead their own learning, scaffolded by highly skilled practitioners.

We believe your child should be given opportunities to explore the outdoors and welcome them to our bespoke outdoor space, giving them opportunities to explore in our sensory garden, make tea in our mud kitchen and build dens in the builder’s yard. Play gives children opportunities to practise without judgement and test their limits with no success criteria but success driven by their own outcome. This is essential in building children’s self-esteem and self-worth.

We focus on building resilient learners through play. With our toddlers we focus on skills in speech and language, physical development and developing social skills- the firm foundations to support the next stage of learning in our preschool room.

Robust key person systems allow families to build up bonds with our staff and links into our learning journey are shared at every point with you and can be accessed 24 hours a day.

Adventurers

Our preschool room offers a unique learning environment where children are offered opportunities to discover, investigate and play. Our practitioners ignite the children’s natural curiosity using real objects as resources, allowing children’s imagination to fly. Highly skilled practitioners observe and monitor children’s play, scaffolding their learning through the very thing that excites them- their own play. We encourage children to make choices, support them taking risks and offer challenges to drive their learning forward.

Led by the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum, which sweeps across all elements of our play based approach, we incorporate discrete teaching times into our busy day which support children to become confident talkers and to develop their fine motor and writing skills. They will be taught how to hear sounds in words, and use these sounds to word build in readiness for reading. They will become confident mathematicians and scientists; not by the completion of worksheets or always reciting times tables but by experiential learning opportunities and problem solving.

Food

Freshly prepared healthy meals are provided for children throughout the day, and drinks and snacks are available throughout the sessions.

We understand the importance of eating a healthy, balanced diet to keep up with all the fun activities we provide.
